Our installation partner offers thirty-year panel performance warranties, ten-year battery and inverter warranties, and an insurance-backed guarantee through IWA. All installations are carried out by Home Heating Services Scotland Limited, which holds MCS, TrustMark, and Gas Safe registration.
Who provides the warranties?
All installation work — and all warranties — are provided by our installation partner, Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd (Company No. SC484353, TrustMark Licence 3559930, MCS-registered).
Scottish Energy Efficiency is a matching and consultancy service. We connect you with our installation partner but we do not install equipment or issue warranties ourselves. This distinction matters — it means your guarantees are held by the company that does the work and holds the accreditations.
Workmanship Guarantee
Home Heating Services (Scotland) Ltd provides a workmanship guarantee covering the quality of the physical installation — roof fixings, wiring, inverter mounting, battery installation, and all electrical connections.
This covers defects arising from the installation work itself, as distinct from the manufacturer warranties on individual components. If a roof bracket loosens, a cable connection fails, or any part of the installation workmanship is found to be defective, your installer puts it right at no cost.
All installations are carried out to MCS MIS 3002 standards and comply with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
Manufacturer Warranties
Each major component carries its own manufacturer warranty. These are product warranties from the equipment manufacturer, held through your installation partner.
AIKO Comet 500W
30-year performance guarantee
Panels guaranteed above 90% rated output at year 30, with a linear degradation rate of approximately 0.4% per year. This is an manufacturer product warranty — not a guess.
Hanchu LiFePO4
10-year manufacturer warranty
Lithium iron phosphate chemistry with 95% depth of discharge, rated for approximately 8,000 cycles. That gives a design life of around 22 years at one cycle per day.
Hanchu ESS Hybrid Inverter
10-year manufacturer warranty
Hybrid inverter handling both solar generation and battery management. Single unit, fewer failure points.

Your installer may recommend alternative equipment based on your roof type, shading assessment, or energy usage. Any changes will be discussed and agreed with you before installation.
Insurance-Backed Guarantee
In addition to the direct workmanship guarantee and manufacturer warranties, your installation is covered by an insurance-backed guarantee through the Independent Warranty Association (IWA).
This provides an independent layer of protection. If your installation partner were unable to honour a warranty claim for any reason — including ceasing to trade — the IWA guarantee ensures that the work is still covered.
This is a requirement of TrustMark registration and gives you a level of protection that goes beyond any single company's promise. The IWA is an independent body; it is not controlled by your installer or by Scottish Energy Efficiency.
What Aftercare Includes
Installation is not the end of the service. Here is what ongoing aftercare looks like with our installation partner.
Annual system health check
Your installation partner monitors system performance and checks for faults, degradation, or inverter errors.
Remote monitoring
Generation data is tracked remotely. If output drops below expected levels, your installer investigates — you do not need to spot the problem yourself.
Warranty claims handling
If a component fails under warranty, your installation partner handles the manufacturer claim and arranges the replacement. You deal with one company, not three.
Bird proofing included as standard
Mesh bird proofing is fitted to all panel arrays at installation. This prevents nesting under panels, which is a common cause of wiring damage and reduced airflow.
Complaints Procedure
We take complaints seriously and have a clear, documented process for resolving them. If something is not right with your installation or aftercare, we want to know about it and put it right.
